A leaked internal email surprised many when it revealed that Apple Music hit 40M subscribers earlier this month, up from 38M just two months earlier. One analyst is now forecasting that the streaming music service will grow 40% per year … The WSJ reports the prediction. Schachter does, however, observe that Apple Music is likely to be one of the least profitable parts of the business. Competition between Apple Music and Spotify continues to be fierce....

There will be SPOILERS.] – Last week’s double episode of Agent Carter, ‘Life of the Party’ and ‘Monsters’, rushed to set up the character development of Jason Wilkes (Reggie Austin) and Ana Jarvis (Lotte Verbeek), while Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) and Edwin Jarvis (James D’Arcy) reluctantly teamed up with the enemy assassin Dottie Underwood (Bridget Regan). Though Dottie shone in her return as the quick-witted and deadly Black Widow agent - whose humor perfectly plays off of a straight-man version of Peggy - Jason and Ana’s character development was contrived to serve a bleak ending to ‘Monsters’ with Jason kidnapped by Whitney Frost (Wynn Everett) and Ana having been shot by the villain....

Adobe today updated Photoshop on macOS with native support for M1-powered Apple Silicon Macs. In addition, the company is rolling out improvements to Photoshop on iPad and previewing a new ML Super Resolution feature. Last November, Adobe previewed M1 support in Photoshop with a pared-down beta build. If you’ve been running the beta on your own machine, expect similar if not greater performance in today’s full build. I’ve been testing the native version of Photoshop released today and found that it’s by far the fastest Adobe app to launch and run on my M1 MacBook Air....

This is mainly post-expoitation demonstration, that first starts with a walk-through of exploiting a windows machine. Next, we walk through getting a copy of the web server’s home page and then modify it with an iframe that points to an exploit server. Anybody that browses to the victim webpage now gets owned. TechCrunch notes that the UK Advertising Standards Authority has ruled in Apple’s favor on the complaint from Samsung that its Galaxy S II Smarphone is thinner than Apple’s iPhone 4. Apple’s iPhone is 9.3mm thick the whole way down the phone, while Samsung’s Galaxy S 2 is 8.71mm thin but has a 9.91mm ‘thick’ antenna hump. In reality, neither in the “thinnest”. NEC sells a 7.7 mm thin device among other thinner devices in the market....

Disney’s live-action remakes can’t all be described as unmitigated successes, but maybe the surprise has been Aladdin which comes along and has a really surprising opening weekend. It’s one that critics are finding hard to justify giving any star rating because Guy Ritchie’s interpretation of everyone’s favorite street rat is such a mixed bag. There’s a lot to love about the film, but there’s just as much that doesn’t quite do the 1992 Disney animated classic justice....

It’s been in the pipeline for a long time, but The Addams Family CG animated movie has now started production. The creepy and kooky family’s return as an animated feature film locked in Sausage Party director Conrad Vernon earlier this month, and now the legwork has begun on the movie’s animation. This will be the latest adaptation of the series, which started life as a New Yorker comic strip from cartoonist Charles Addams....

Adobe just took the wraps off the iOS version of Adobe Reader, which admittedly doesn’t bring much functionality we don’t already have with third-party apps. Either way it’s a welcome addition to their iOS app lineup and could possibly have the potential to be more than just a reader down the road. The app allows you to read and share PDFs from your email, the web, or any other third-party app that supports “Open In”– pretty straight forward....

Since the landfall of Hurricane Michael last week, Verizon has been under scrutiny for its seemingly poor efforts to restore service in the Florida Panhandle. FCC Chairman Ajit Pai and Florida Governor Rick Scott have both slammed Verizon’s response to the disaster, while Scott has praised AT&T’s efforts. Now, Verizon is responding to those concerns. In a statement this afternoon, Verizon executive Ronan Dunne said that “every Verizon customer in Bay and Gulf counties” will automatically receive a 3 month credit for each line of mobile service....
