Adobe is releasing an update to its prototyping tool Adobe XD with several new features including audio playback support for more immersive experiences. The March release of XD is rolling out today to Creative Cloud customers. Starting today, sound design can become a key part of your prototyping workflow. WebMD today launched “Healthy Target”, a feature within its iOS app that lets users track health data from a variety of sources like activity trackers, glucose meters, and other iPhone-connected health and fitness accessories. The feature lets users set goals, track habits, get easy to understand summaries of biometric data, and also provides progress reports and inspiration along the way. WebMD says the feature “will provide valuable assistance to individuals looking to manage chronic conditions like Type 2 diabetes and obesity, as well as to a broader audience interested in achieving their fitness goals or more generally living a healthier lifestyle....

AirPods Pro are set to arrive in Apple Stores and to early customers who ordered online as soon as tomorrow, October 30th. However, some who ordered immediately got a delivery date of October 31st. Now some of those customers are seeing an updated delivery date of the 30th. Update 10/30: It’s AirPods launch day and customers are getting their hands on the new wireless earbuds. We found images of a redesigned pair of AirPods in the iOS 13.2 beta earlier this month, featuring what appears to be an in-ear design for better noise cancellation. The rumors of AirPods with noise cancellation and water resistance have been circling for some time and it appears we are close to a launch. Aereo—the service that streams over-the-air local television to any Mac, iOS device, or PC running Safari for a monthly subscription—just landed a huge victory against television networks, as the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit rebuffed an appeal today and ruled Aereo does not infringe broadcaster’s copyrights. Aereo transmits television over the Internet, but local broadcasters claimed it does not have the legal license to operate. The Court of Appeals, however, agreed that Aereo’s system—14 of its antennas to be specific—operate independently and a license is irrelevant because subscribers stream their own copies of programs....

Instead of using your iPhone and a specialized DJ app like Algoriddim’s djay for iPhone, clever minds have come up with a novel idea based on sensing a performer’s movement to alter the playback of digital audio in real-time. They call it Mopho DJ and it doesn’t require dedicated hardware or time-coded vinyl, explains Nick Brian, a researcher with the Center for Computer Research, Music and Acoustics at Stanford University. We’re expecting Apple to launch a new AirPods model around the end of the year, with an earlier report suggesting that AirPods 3 pricing will be above that of the current model. Listings for AirTags with deactivated speakers have been spotted on eBay and Etsy. This removes one of the two anti-stalking features Apple built into the tracking devices. Kanex just released an AirPlay mirroring adapter for VGA projectors that streams content wirelessly from computers and iOS devices to TVs and projectors through Apple TV. The Kanex ATV Pro is geared toward legacy projectors lacking HDMI ports. The new tech connects to Apple TV’s HDMI output port, as well as other device’s HDMI ports, and offers a mini D-sub 15-pin VGA port and 3.5mm stereo minijack audio connection for aging projectors and sound systems....

[Update: Apple’s release notes detail that these updates include fixes for the KRACK and Broadpwn vulnerabilities.] Apple has today released firmware updates for its AirPort devices, including the AirPort Time Capsule, AirPort Extreme, and AirPort Express. The 7.6.9 update is for 801.11n base stations and the 7.7.9 update is for 802.11ac models. These updates provide important security patches for the KRACK and Broadpwn exploits. Users may not see any prompt for the firmware upgrade, but can manually do so by opening AirPort Utility on Mac or iOS....

Runtastic, developers of several popular fitness iOS apps, today announced it has been acquired by Adidas for € 220 million. The move, according to a press release from both companies, will help Adidas bolster its efforts in offering connected products and its vision of “the convergence of sport, digital and data in an always connected and always on-demand world.” Or in other words, Adidas now has a strong software component with a large user base to integrate with its digitally enabled sports products including balls, wrist devices, apparel, and shoes....

Adobe today updated its ecosystem of Lightroom photography apps, most notably adding native support for Apple Silicon Macs.
